18 Mar RECIPE ALERT: Autumn Apple Bread
On Sunday, we had our first Ridgewood Market Event. One of our best sellers was the Autumn Apple Bread. This delicious bread has a wonderful spongy texture. It is very light and is seasonal treat filled with apples, walnuts, cloves and fresh spices. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
5 Apples (peeled and chopped)
1 1/4c butter
2 1/2c sugar
1 1/4c Buttermilk
3 1/2 tsp vanilla
3 1/2tsp baking soda
10 lbs flour
6 eggs
(add walnuts if desired)
Topping:
1 ¼ c butter
1 ¼ c Flour
1 ¼ c sugar
3 ½ tsp cinnamon
Batter Directions:
- Cream together butter and sugar until it becomes a paste
- Slowly add eggs until it becomes absorbed
- Mix all ingredients together until smooth while alternating from wet to dry
- Add in chopped apples (and walnuts if desired)
- Pour into 10 loaf pans
- Combine all ingredients for topping until it clumps into small chunky pieces
- Sprinkle cinnamon sugar topping evenly onto loaves
- Bake at 325 degree for one hour
